Spend a day in the 16th Century

24th June Home Educators’ Day is reserved solely for families who home-educate their children! Just as we have days for schools and others for the general public. Home Educators can attend on Public Days but its far better for children to visit on their own day.

Kentwell Re-Creations create everyday life bringing the 16th Century to life as a Tudor community. Kentwell's skilled living-historians are not just actors but behave, talk and do like a living Tudor. For visitors especially children its like them meeting figures out of history able to answer any questions about their everyday existence. It all takes place in an around beautiful Kentwell Hall one of England’s finest Tudor Houses.

This fully-immersive day will create memories and experiences which will stay with children for many a day. They should be enjoying themselves so they don't realise they are learning.

Guardians have the freedom to explore the event - taking their children where they want when they want. They can spend as much or as little time as they choose at any point to focus on selected themes to study in depth. A visit to Kentwell shows many of the activities relevant to many periods of history - it is a truly cross-curricular day out.  It creates a basis for creative writing or reporting.

An active, outdoor day out for explorers of all ages — a breath of fresh air for everyone!

Dress as Tudors: We want the children to feel they are part of the Tudor Community so please dress appropriately. We provide details as to how to make suitable Tudor clothes or adapt what you have and if nothing better, how to cheat but make some effort.

Please pre-book your visit (any time up to the day of your visit) and arrive in good time to get the most out of your visit.  You are welcome to arrive at any time from the start of the time slot you book until our last entry at 2.30pm.  The site will close at 5pm.

When you visit try to stay in role as Tudor for about 3 hours without a break (all schools achieve this) which means going to WCs or Tearoom before or afterwards. If you do so between times that can break the illusion we strive to create for children.
