The Wind in the Willows
The Wind in the Willows
This is a dramatisation of Kenneth Grahame's much loved book featuring the self important Toad and the forlorn efforts of his friends Badger, Ratty & Mole to keep him in order. There's a little of Toad in all of us. We delight in his extravagances and looseness with the truth while recognizing the soundness of the advice his friends tender.
Although it is a children's book, Toad's failings and the book speak as much to adults and can be enjoyed by all. For that reason, we start this performance earlier than usual so that you may bring your 5 year olds and upwards to enjoy it.
Illyria
The Illyria Theatre Company have established a fine reputation for their pacy playing and lively interpretations. A small cast acts in the Shakespearean tradition of doubling up and quick changes which is all part of the fun. This is sure to be a lively production. This will be Illyria's 3rd year at Kentwell after their successful dramatisation of Pride & Prejudice and (last year) Macbeth.
Filming at Kentwell
It is entirely appropriate that this dramatisation should play at Kentwell for Terry Jones's 1995 film of the book (with himslef as Toad) was filmed here. The Moat and the Front Pond served as Toad's river and the House as Toad Hall.
