Lambing and Spring Bulbs

When everything's fresh and new

On the Farm

Kentwell opens for February halfterm, daily, and Sundays from then until end of March. Then animals are in for winter and the sheep are lambing. Kentwell lambs its own flock and visitors often see Lambs being born. The Heavy Horses are in and often being groomed or put in harness.

There are usually young piglets and other stock too and almost certainly some chicks. On Sundays there are often Cart Rides and the Heavy Horses may sometimes be being shod.

The Bulbs

Kentwell offers lovely walks through spring bulbs. In February there are Snowdrops a'plenty and Aconites. As these die back there massed Daffodils which last well into April but are usually at their best in late March. After that come Primroses, Cowslips, Oxslips and Forget-me-nots. Finally in May there are Bluebells. Yet by then, the Fruit Blossom in the Walled Garden is in flower and Herb Garden and Potager are coming to their peak.
