The Tempest, in which Stephano, Trinculo and Caliban create some of Shakespeare's best comedy moments and, in Prospero, some see Shakespeare himself, others a scheming old alchemist. The confusion which Prospero and his spirit, Ariel, create makes this one of Shakespeare’s most enjoyable plays.

Open Air Picnic Theatre on the Cedar Lawn

Sunday 22 Jul, 7.30pm

The Taming of the Shrew contains a play within the play and so much deception that it is sometimes difficult to keep up with the plot, but it all makes for excellent comedy. At the end, the wilful shrewish Katherina appears to be tamed by her new husband, Petruchio. Or, by apparent docility, has Katherina learnt another way to impose her will?

Fri 3 August 2012, from 6.30pm

This will be the 13th year in succession that we have welcomed a Glenn Miller Orchestra to our 1940s Night.

This promises to be another evening of pure nostalgia as once again the strains of Glenn Miller's unique sound fill the air.  Join the throng to Jitterbug on the Courtyard. Or just relax on the lawns in Kentwell's magical romantic setting to enjoy the music and the occasion while you picnic.
