Tudors, Georgians, WWI, WWII and the 1960s combine to illustrate the impact of war across history. This is one of our smaller events, with sixty of our volunteers taking part across the three eras portrayed. The House, Gardens and Farm are fully open during this event and the tea room will be open.

Tudor Longbow Archery Challenge

At the Butts, you will find our Tudor archers demonstrating and explaining longbow archery and associated crafts at the Butts. They will be shooting against each other in various competitions across the weekend.

A Georgian Recruiting Party, set in 1815 will be trying to persuade you to take the King's Shilling, with their tales of glory and adventure.

The 'Family' in the Hall will be in the year 1919, entertaining their guests, tended to by their staff. The cooks will be busy in the kitchen, and the other staff in the House. If weather permits, there may even be a game or two of lawn bowls, or some cricket after luncheon.

A detachment of the Army Service Corps will be set in 1917, portraying the men who kept the front lines supplied and the men from the Essex Regiment have set up camp on the front lawns.

WWII Army Provost

The Provost are keeping an eye on things from their vantage point near the gates - be on your best behaviour...!

1960s Peace Camp

Come and discuss the implications of war and the merits of peace, at our peace camp.

Please do not think that Kentwell is just a fair weather visit - we carry on whatever the weather. There will be indoor activities and some of our outdoor activities can be moved inside if the weather fails us.

House, Garden & Farm

The House, Gardens and Farm are fully open during this event and the restaurant and tea room will be open for lunches, afternoon teas and light refreshments.
