Always plenty to see at any time

Kentwell holds many Events throughout the season but many visitors find it a delight to visit when there is nothing extra on. They can then fully enjoy Kentwell's unrivalled romantic air and tranquillity.

Gardens & Farm Opening

The Gardens & Farm are Open more often than the House. Usually open from 11 - 4pm in early spring and 11 - 5pm at other times. On some days, particularly on Saturdays, the Gardens & Farm may close earlier than usual for a Function. If it is important to visitors that a particular part should be accessible on the day of their planned visit, they should check by telephone before deciding to visit.

Please note that all visitors on an Event day must pay the appropriate Event Admission price, even if they only want to see the Gardens or the Farm.

House Opening Times

The House usually opens one hour after and closes one hour before the advertised Opening and Closing times for the day. This year we shall not be open on many Saturdays. Though the House will be open at least to some extent whenever we have a Special Event advertised for a Weekend.

During the Great Annual Re-Creation only part of the House is used and the rest is closed. During all other Events the House is accessible even though there may be Event activities in some of the rooms which may be set up specially for the event..

Moat House Visitors should never miss this - the service building of c1500 with Dairy, Bakehouse, Brewhouse, Stillroom & Solar usually set up very much of that date. It is better to view it before entering the Hall.

The Gardens

Are a pleasure to walk round at any time but especially in spring time. The visitor is never far from water. The Moat encircling the Hall's platform and the Cedar Lawn is one of the biggest in East Anglia and its brick walled lining gives it a rare feeling. There is also a secondary moat (evidence of the House's original status) round the Walled Garden. Everywhere in the Gardens the House provides a stunning backdrop just as the Gardens provide the perfect setting for the House. For the more adventurous there are walks into adjoining woods. The longer a visitor spends at Kentwell the more the visitor may see with plenty of surprises.

The Farm

The Farm Buildings are of interest at any time. It is a working farm (not a Farm Park) with many of the animals usually to be seen in their natural setting some grazing in the Paddocks and Fields and some in their housing. To see young animals it is best to come during lambing each year. Call to check when Lambing will start.
