Kentwell is always on the lookout for volunteers and temporary staff. Sometimes there are more substantial vacancies. Please see below for the details of the current positions available. Live as a Tudor

We recruit in January and February for volunteers to take part in our summer season events. University Student Placements

Kentwell often has paid vacancies for students to help with all of its activties from Spring through to Christmas. Experience gained at Kentwell should prove of use for almost any career. Placements are available at weekends, or for longer periods throughout the main season. It is hard work but you can learn a lot and work in a very stimulating environment and come into contact with many talented and lively people. Kentwell is very busy during the season and offers involvement in a wider range of activities than almost any other Historic House in England. Apply to Mr Phillips by e-mail with CV at any time to


Volunteers required to assist in the beautiful and expanding gardens at Kentwell. Plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and enjoy the peace and quiet of this tranquil setting. Apply to Mrs Phillips:

Function & Tearoom Staff

We are always on the lookout for responsible people to assist with Kentwell catering for weddings and other functions and in the tea-room - usually at weekends and during school holidays. You should be responsible, able to deal with public and prepared to observe high standards of presentation and service. Apply to Mrs Phillips:

Work for young people

Kentwell offers opportunities for young people to gain paid work experience usually (but not exclusively) during the season (Easter to Christmas). This will be mainly working in our tearoom, at weddings and other evening functions. There are also (more limited) opportunities occasionally at certain times in other areas of Kentwell’s activities. Best suited to bright, presentable students studying for GCSE or ‘A’ Levels or at University. Apply to Mrs Phillips:


Regular Volunteers

Kentwell usually has vacancies for volunteers with a wide range of skilled experience, especially active retired folk able to assist in the Gardens, Grounds, Shop, Tearooms, Gate, Car parking, etc. Apply to for more information.

Scaresville Scream Team Volunteers

Work at Scaresville: Marshals & General Assistants

Scaresville Volunteers

Volunteer scarers wanted for the Scaresville Scream Team! Scaresvile takes place each October. Do you dare to scare? We are looking for people able to commit to a minimum of three nights (scaring, operating scares or helping behind the scenes with tech, wardrobe etc) and two training days/evenings beforehand. If you are over 18 and think you have what it takes to be part of the Scream Team, contact us to find out what it entails. Responsible people only for a demanding, but stimulating opportunity.
