Summer Entertainments Season

Amidst all the depression surrounding all of us in these days of economic recession, there is one small area which declines to be down-hearted.  Here at Kentwll we are not drawing in our horns so far as our Open Air Entertainmnets Season is concerned.  Whereas many other venues are cancelling or have cancelled their shows we are caryying on much as usual or, dare I say it rather better than usual.  After a gap of a year or two we welcome back Shakespeare and do so in the form of one of the very best touring Shakespeare Compannies - the Britsh Shakespeare Company who think of themselves as such.  They not only bring a large cast - some 16 this year, when most other companies have half that number or less but people it with fine actors many of whom well-known from TV.  They bring to us A Midsummer Night's Dream, always a delight and Much Ado About Nothing, a jolly romp.  The week before that we offer Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood in a solo performance by Guy Masterson which is recognized worldwide as being the very best interpretation of this unparalleled work.  It has long been a favourite of ours and offers an evening of lyricism and language of the highest quality - you'll love it.

No Opera this year, alas, as our usual touring company could find insufficient venues due to lack of funds but Gilbert & Sullivan here as usual in that wonderfully relevant for today satire on Parliament (and the law) Iolanthe.  Great fun to be had with my favourite patter song of them all and some of Sullivan's most inspired music.  The South Anglia Savoy Players are sure not to disappoint with their high quality singing and acting and wonderful choruses and costumes.

Our Glenn Miller 1940s Night enters its 10th year and to celebrate we have a double bill which includes as well as the Glenn Miller Tribute Orchestra who play nothing but Glenn's music, the wonderful and lively Jive Aces.  People have been badgering us to book them for years.  Well now we have done so, don't miss them.  It promises to be an excellent and long evening so we shall be starting especially early.

Finally, we shall once again have a Last Night of the Proms to round off our little season.

Booking for everything is now open and booking on-line gives you the best discounts.
