Forthcoming Event

Seasons Greetings  from Kentwell Hall !

Kentwell Hall's busy event year culminates with a brand new event - Christmas Wonderland.    Open from 18th - 22nd December Christmas Wonderland offers a peek into the past with the Victorian family of Mrs Bence and her children, friends and relatives making ready for Christmas.  See how they decorate the Great Hall (complete with 20ft tall tree) and prepare all kinds of Christmas items.  There will also be music-making and carols in the Great Hall, the children making items for the tree and playing games in the Parlour, while the gentlemen are at leisure in the Gentlemen's rooms (Billiard Room and Library).  See the servants busy at work too.

Mr Dickens will be giving readings of an abridgement of A Christmas Carol against a tableau using Victorian illusions.  Children will be able to make, under skilled guidance, a whole range of traditional and simple Christmas items that can hang on their own tree.  The little ones will also be able to help the Victorian Baker & Baxter make mince pies and gingerbread men in the old Bakehouse - just as the Victorians made them.

The stable area will be set up as a Manger complete with animals to give children an idea of how the Nativity would have looked and no Christmas event would be complete without a visit to Father Christmas - with all children being able to tell him their desires and maybe receive a present - if they have been good!

Kentwell Hall offers the perfect setting to enjoy a truly authentic Victorian Christmas experience - for children and adults alike - an opportunity to be transported back into a magical time.

Christmas Wonderland is open 18th - 22nd December inclusive from 10am - 5pm.
