Thursday 26 May 2022

Please note that we originally planned this tour for Thursday 12 May.  Unfortunately, Judith tested positive for Covid and will not be able to give the tour on the original date.  If you had booked tickets for Thursday 12 May, please check your email in-box for a message from us, regarding altering your booking.

Join us on Thursday 26 May for an exclusive tour with Judith Phillips, owner of Kentwell (and Head Gardener!), for a tour of her amazing gardens, focussing on our hedge and tree Topiary, to celebrate World Topiary Day.  Judith has been the creator of many of Kentwell's quirky topiary hedges, and has been instrumental in the re-shaping and restoration of the older topiaries.  This event is limited to 30 tickets and must be pre-booked.

Join us at the tearoom for morning coffee, at 10am.  Judith will then take you on an interesting and informative tour around our gardens.  After the tour, you will be welcome to enjoy the gardens at your own pace, until closing time at 4pm.

The 16th Century House and 15th Century Moat House are attractive from every angle and still dominate the Gardens.  Their beauty and the usually still waters of the moats, disturbed only by fish and fowl, set the tone.  There is an aura of timelessness created by the mellow red brick, the water and the ancient trees, from our 1000 year old oak to a lawn guarded by England's most majestic cedars.

There's a sense of fun too; from the sculpted tree and courtyard maze to the yew castle and varied topiary, some of it truly massive, encountered throughout.  Topiary here has been Judith's speciality for over 30 years and she created and has maintained the famous Pied Piper Topiary.

Please pre-book your tour (any time up to 9.00am on the day) and please arrive in good time.
