For a splendid summer visit!
Kentwell relies upon visitor income to keep the House, Gardens and Grounds going. This is mainly from our special events which, currently, it has been impossible to hold. However, we are delighted to announce that our Gardens and Farm are open, for selected dates. The House and Moat House will remain closed.
Kentwell's Gardens are extensive and provide quiet space for comfortable relaxation in beautiful surroundings. Visitors should have little problem in keeping socially distant from other visitors!
At this time of year, the gardens are at their most colourful and fresh and are a haven of peace and tranquility in a busy world, with naught but the birdsong to disturb you. A mass of wild flowers, including pyramid orchids, take over the tennis court lawns, and the mixed border beds in the Walled Garden and the Sunken Garden are a riot of colour. The herb garden is flourishing and the moat walls are draped the foliage of soon-to emerge soft roses.
Booking: please book entry in advance (before 10am on the day of your visit) if you possibly can, so we know that you are coming and we have your full contact details. We will limit the number of people on site each day. If you have booked entry, please check our website before travelling, in case circumstances have changed. If you are a current Season Ticket holder, or Historic Houses member, please also book your tickets for these days. If you have not pre-booked and we reach our maximum numbers, we may not be able to let you in.
Covid and Social Distancing: Kentwell's gardens are now open to pre-booked visitors on selected days. All visitors must follow current social distancing guidelines, and follow the specific instructions for the one-way route around the gardens. We will publish precautions and rules for guidance. We ask all visitors to bring their own gloves and hand sanitiser. You are welcome to wear masks or face-coverings.
Opening Times: Entry is from 12 noon until 3pm. The Gardens will close at 4pm.
Refreshments: we are pleased to offer refreshments as a take-out service, for our visitors to enjoy outdoors. We have tea, coffee, cake and ice creams, as well as home-cooked sausage rolls, scotch eggs and veggie slices. We also have a selection of cold drinks and bottled water.
Facilities: the loos near the tearoom area will be available for use, on a one-out/one-in basis. We ask all visitors to wash their hands upon entering as well as leaving these facilities.
The Weather: we will open whatever the weather and your visit can certainly fill a rewarding few hours. Please dress appropriately for the weather!
Accessibility: the majority of the gardens are accessible by wheelchair in good weather, via good pathways and firm, lawned or mown grass tracks.
Dogs: no dogs, except guide dogs, are permitted within the grounds - sorry.
