Schools’ Tudor Days (Midsummer)

23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th June 2026

Bookings are now open for 2026!

Whatever period of history may be studied  from the distant past to about the year 1800 daily life for the majority changed but little. People may have dressed and spoken differently in every period but it's not necessary to experience the precise conditions of a given era to understand the basic concept that life in some respects constantly evolved whilst in many other remained the same.

Your students will experience a fully-immersive hands-on visit where they encounter a community living as if in Tudor times.  They will see people going about their daily business dressed, talking and behaving as if they were actual figures from the past. A real time-travel experience, at a genuine Tudor Manor. The distinctive feature of a Kentwell Re-Creations is that visiting pupils spend an engrossing three hours or more without a break in the past and may begin to think themselves back in time. The past is a foreign country and for a time children visit it at a Kentwell Re-Creation.

Such total immersion is not available anywhere else.

The Re-Creation provides unrivalled enrichment for the study of all aspects of past life, from food preparation to crafts, from longbow archery to music & dance.  Suitable for KS2, KS3 and GCSE students.

Important Information

  • The dates for our Tudor Midsummer Schools event are Tuesday 23rd June, Wednesday 24th June, Thursday 25th June, and Friday 26th June 2026.

We are now open for bookings on these days, but be quick! Dates are filling up!

  • We ask that schools arrive around 30 minutes prior to their booked entry time, to allow for a snack and toilet break prior to entry.

  • We offer entry time slots every ten minutes from 9:00am until 14:00pm. E.g. 9:00am, 9:10am, 9:20am etc.

Please note, each entry time slot has a max capacity of around 30 pupils. Subsequently, schools wishing to book in for upwards of 30 pupils will need to be booked in across two or more time slots.

  • You book for between 15 and 30 pupils (larger numbers need additional time slots) to enter as a group at a set time (to be strictly adhered to).

  • A visit to our re-creation takes between 3 and 5 hours.

Groups stay within the grounds in the re-creation without a break (so as not to disturb the notion of having stepped back in time).

  • When booking coaches, schools should allow a further 30 minutes after exiting the Re-Creation (for snacks & WC etc).

  • Students (and staff!) are strongly encouraged to dress as Tudors for their visit to really immerse themselves in the day.

In preparation for your visit, Kentwell provides easy to follow notes for making, adapting, or (at worst) how to cheat these.

  • Kentwell sends out additional resources prior to your visit to help your students get prepared for stepping back in time!

These include educational resources about the Tudors, the period, what life is like here at Kentwell, as well as important information such as risk assessments.

  • Once your booking has been confirmed, we will send you a booking confirmation and a deposit request to secure your booking.

  • Balances for your visit are payable by return to Kentwell’s issued invoice.

We ask that payment for your visit is paid at least a fortnight before your booked entry.

If you need to amend your booking in any way, please get in touch with schools@kentwell.co.uk.

  • To book a visit with us, please either fill in the form below or email the team at schools@kentwell.co.uk. You can also call our office team at 01787 310 207.

We aim to reply to messages as soon as possible. During our busier times of year, such as during our other events, please allow 10 working days for a reply. If you have not had a response in this time, please do get in touch again via email or call the team at the above number.

  • We require a ratio of one supervising adult (free) for every ten children.

Any adults needed for 1:1 care or SEND needs also have free entry, please let our schools team know if this is something you require for your visit.
