'The Paddocks' Tea Garden
Relax and enjoy outdoor refreshments in our charming Paddocks Tea Garden, which overlooks Kentwell's pastures and parkland. You don't need to pay for entry to Kentwell to visit the Tea Garden on our standard opening days.
Our Tearoom has always had an al-fresco area. The recent restrictions and regulations for catering establishments have made indoor tearooms almost impossible to operate profitably. In response to that challenge, we have enlarged and improved the garden attached to the Tearoom, to create a stand-alone Tea Garden - 'The Paddocks Tea Garden'..
This charming area backs onto the Stableyard, in part of a paddock. It is accessible not only to those who have paid to visit the gardens; visitors to Long Melford and those who come to walk in our entrance avenue are welcome to visit the Tea Garden during opening hours on our Gardens Open days, without paying for entry to the main gardens.
If you choose to visit our main gardens, we ask that you support our endeavours by paying an entrance fee. If you decide in advance of your visit to see the gardens, you can book online via this website at a discounted rate. The Tea Garden will also be open during our special events, however you will need to buy an entry ticket to access the Tea Garden at these times.
We have already had a number of visitors dropping in just for a coffee and some cake - some are becoming regulars, and one even told Mrs Phillips that we serve the best coffee in Long Melford!
We regret we are not participating in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
We are hoping that, from small beginnings, The Paddocks Tea Garden will prove to be a popular destination for a drive and an afternoon tea.
