The House and Grounds are currently closed for the winter season
One of England’s finest and most beautiful Tudor Houses, surrounded by a broad fish-filled moat. Original Tudor service areas little altered. Acquired as a lifetime project in 1970 when costs deterred all others. Main rooms improved in Gothick style in 1825 enhanced idiosyncratically since 1971 by the current owners. The extensive family friendly Gardens are enjoyable in every season.

Before the Puritans stopped people having fun some 400 years ago, May Day was the most joyous Festival of the year. Then villagers made much noise to make sure spring was awake and cavorted about with little restraint.
In our May Day Celebrations our Tudor costumed volunteers recreate the joy and fun of those times. Come and join them.
